Slow down, you won’t want to miss this! If you happen to be driving through the town of Glover, VT you just might. Nestled in the backyard behind an old brick house is a little red barn – just before the bridge. Yep, that’s right, the one you just passed. Turn around a pull into the driveway. You have arrived at the Red Sky Trading Co.
Owned by Doug and Cheri Safford the Red Sky Trading Co offers some of the tastiest homemade doughnuts, “free-trade”coffee, and assortment of homemade jams. Relax in an Adirondack chair (also for sale) and enjoy your refreshments listening to the Barton River bubble by or browse around the “Shabby Shack” for some antiques.
Hang out long enough and you might get a chance to meet Doug or Cheri. I had a chance to chat with Doug for a bit. He was happy to share the history of the place and talk about how their recent article in Vemont Life came to be. Don’t worry if you don’t see anyone around, payment is based on the honor system (so bring cash).
Typical Vermont, a big splash of style, and some high calorie treats make this a must see on any Northeast Kingdom roadtrip.
