Maple sugar season is upon and this weekend is the chance for you and your family to get involved, and probably get a taste of Vermont’s sweetest product.

Head on over to Vermont Maple (vermontmaple.org) to find a “Sugar Shack” near you. The KT will be heading to one of the “shacks” in Barnet. Hope we see you there!

The Ninth Annual Vermont Maple Open House Weekend will be held at sugarhouses throughout Vermont, March 26-28, 2010. The Open House Weekend is the public celebration of the maple syrup season in Vermont and an opportunity for the public to visit one or more “sugarhouses” throughout the state. Activities during Open House Weekend will be different at each sugarhouse but will include the opportunity to watch maple syrup being made (weather permitting) and often sample maple products. -vermontmaple.org

Here is a great Maple Sugar montage from the fine folks over at Northeast Kingdom Travel and Tourism Association to get you in the mood.

picture-3Have GPS? Love Adventure? Then geocaching could be for you. What is geocaching you ask? It is hide-and-seek treasure hunting and it is happening right here in the Northeast Kingdom. How it works: Someone stashes a cache (pronounced cash) and pinpoints its whereabouts with GPS and uploads the information to geocaching.com. Adventurers use geocaching.com and GPS to find these hidden treasures. Caches can be all kinds of things from time capsules, random objects, and even structured games. The only rule of geocaching is if you take something from a stash you have to put something in.

It seems like fun to me…wanna play?  Here are some geocaches in the Kindgom http://www.geocaching.com.
